A loyal dog jumped on an ambulance to follow its owner to the hospital after he fell ill while walking his pet in Brazil.

The cute canine hopped onto the rear bumper, insisting the paramedics take her along to the hospital too.

Before driving off, the first responders opened the doors of the ambulance so the beloved pup could stay with her owner.

The heartwarming moment was captured by Anderson Bahi, who had noticed the concerned dog waiting near the ambulance on a roadside in Brazil.

The pup’s owner had fallen ill whilst taking his pet for an evening stroll.

‘I was passing in my car when I saw an ambulance stopped on the other side of the road,’ Anderson told The Dodo.

Whilst the paramedics treated her owner inside the ambulance, the small dog jumped up onto the ambulance’s rear bumper hoping to be taken to the hospital too.

The paramedics took pity and later let her inside the ambulance.

‘The love this dog has for her owner is something very special,’ Anderson said. ‘A faithful love.’

Once the pair arrived at the hospital, the dog sat outside the main entrance door and waited for her owner to come out.

Local animal rescuer Maria Lúcia Muniz, who lives near the hospital, offered to take the dog in for the night whilst her owner recovered.

But luckily, the dog didn’t have to wait for too long before she was reunited with her owner.

‘It was very emotional,’ Maria said. ‘But thank God, the owner was only hospitalised for 45 minutes. His family arrived to take him and his dog home.’
