‘Food is one of the most powerful tools we have to help boost our immune system. I truly believe in the ancient saying, “Let food be thy medicine,” as I felt a big difference in my life when I started making better food choices,’ she began her caption.

‘When we eat foods that are alive (and not processed), their nutrients and vitamins keep us healthier, and also help our bodies function better. In April, Gisele opened up about her healthy diet to Marie Claire.

‘At our house, we try to eat organic foods that are in season and locally grown,’ she said. ‘We believe that by buying locally, we’ll have a better chance at getting foods that are fresh and also support local farmers. We eat mostly a plant-based diet.’

She also confessed to indulging in moderation, which seemed to be a departure from a diet her chef Allen Campbell revealed in 2016 in an interview with Boston.com.

He said that ’80 percent of what they eat is vegetables,’ all of which had to be organic.

Whole grains, including brown rice, quinoa, millet and beans made up a large chunk of their food as well, with the final 20 percent comprised of ‘grass-fed organic steak, duck every now and then, and chicken,’ along with some wild salmon.

The family were more extreme in what they wouldn’t eat, which included white sugar, white flower, olive oil, canola oil, iodized salt, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, eggplants and anything with caffeine.

Tom also rarely ate any fruit, though his children would eat it.
