The closure comes just three months after bars and pubs across the UK were allowed to re-open following the COVID-19 crisis, with strict social distancing measures in place.

Jade first opened Arbeia as Red Door last year with a star-studded celebration, joining her bandmates to mark the end of their LM5 tour.

The singer was known for making regular appearances with house bands to perform for thrilled fans.

In February Jade changed the bar’s name Arbeia as an homage to the town’s nearby Roman Fort.

On Wednesday South Shields was placed in the second tier of the government’s new COVID-19 alert system, banning households from mixing indoors.

The restrictions also mean bars and restaurants are still limited to a 10pm curfew, with groups of no more than six able to meet.
