Myleene Klass admits Hear’Say lived in ‘constant fear’ that people around them would ‘sell stories’ and reveals they had ‘no money in the bank’ despite a number one single

Myleene Klass has revealed she lived in ‘constant fear’ of who to trust when she was a member of Hear’Say.

The media personality, 42, was one fifth of the pop group who were formed on ITV show Popstars in 2001 and found success with their number one hit Pure and Simple.

Speaking on The W Word podcast, Myleene admitted the group constantly worried people around them would ‘sell stories’ on them and added that they had no money in the bank despite topping the charts.

Anxious: Myleene Klass, 42, has revealed she lived in ‘constant fear’ of who to trust when she was a member of Hear’Say

She said: ‘Hear’Say was constant fear. We were so paranoid about everything. When I look bag, I want to hug us all. People selling stories nonstop, who to trust.’

Myleene admitted some of her friends were surprised she was still living an ordinary lifestyle after achieving a number one single.

She said: ‘We had a number one and no money in the bank. People would say, “why are you picking me up in a taxi, shouldn’t you be picking me up in a Ferrari?” It’s not that instantaneous.’

Myleene was a member of Hear’Say alongside Danny Foster, 41, Kym Marsh, 44, Suzanne Shaw, 39, Noel Sullivan, 40, and Johnny Shentall, 42, who joined the group after Kym left.

The group’s first album Popstars was a huge hit but their success quickly dwindled by the time they released their second album Everybody.

They split up in October 2002, less than two years after being put together on Popstars and cited ‘abuse from the public’ at the time as the primary reason behind the breakup.

Elsewhere in the interview, Myleene recalled how she got the job of playing piano in Hear’Say because a pianist failed to turn up to a gig.

She remembered: ‘I got the job in Hear’Say because the rehearsal pianist didn’t show up. But I played Wembley on my piano. I remember coming up through the floor feeling like Elton John.’

She said: 'We had a number one and no money in the bank. People would say, "why are you picking me up in a taxi, shouldn’t you be picking me up in a Ferrari?" It’s not that instantaneous'

A Hear’Say reunion could be on the cards, after former Corrie actress Kym also said she’d be up for a reunion gig, saying in October last year: ‘I’d love to do a one-off show, maybe just for Manchester Pride.’

Myleene, who welcomed son Apollo with fiancé Simon Motson last August, echoed the sentiment in an interview with MailOnline where she told how her daughters Ava, 13, and Hero, nine, are desperate to see her perform on stage.

She said: ‘It’s funny because at the stage that I am now – my children don’t even realise that I was in a band, well Ava more so.

‘I’ve gone from no, never, it’s never going to happen to my children saying, “Go on, just do it! We want to be able to see you do all the dance moves”.’

‘They want to see if I can still dance and remember the words which at the minute would be a miracle with baby brain! I can just about remember my car keys.’
