Little Mix: The Search: Jade Thirlwall to miss first live show

Jade Thirlwall forced to self-isolate and miss Little Mix: The Search’s first live show after series was postponed as crew members tested positive for Covid

Jade Thirlwall will miss Little Mix: The Search’s first live show on Saturday as she’s forced to self-isolate, the BBC has announced.

The broadcaster shared a statement to Twitter on Wednesday which revealed the musician, 27 – who, like her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards, has tested negative for coronavirus – will coach via video link.

The competition series was postponed earlier this month when a ‘small number’ of crew members contracted the virus.

The statement read: ‘Jade has to self-isolate this week and will therefore be carrying out her role as Mentor on Little Mix The Search from home.

‘For this Saturday’s show, Jade will participate via video link, continuing to mentor alongside Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Perrie.’

People in the UK self-isolate if they show any symptoms or are tested positive for COVID-19. They also quarantine if someone they live with or a member of their support bubble catch the virus.

Later in the day, songstress Jade posted a fierce snap to Instagram of herself sporting a sparkly personalised hat to promote her band’s new single Happiness.

A representative for Little Mix declined to comment further when contacted by MailOnline.

Despite mixing with the crew members in question, artists Jade, Perrie, 27, Jesy and Leigh-Anne, both 29, have gotten the all-clear.

‘They’ve all tested negative and do not need to isolate,’ a source told The Sun. ‘They will be regularly tested throughout the run of the series.’

A spokesperson for the BBC added: ‘We can confirm that a small number of people on the Little Mix The Search production have tested positive for coronavirus and they are now self-isolating following the latest government guidelines.

‘Due to the format of the show we have made the decision to postpone Saturday’s programme.

‘There are rigorous protocols in place to manage Covid-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount. We hope to be back on air on Saturday 24 October.’
