Maya Hawke to star in the Beatles-centric comedy Revolver with her dad Ethan Hawke

Maya Hawke scored her biggest role to date with the news on Friday that she’ll be starring in the upcoming comedy film Revolver.

The 22-year-old actress will play the lead role in the film about a surprise meeting with The Beatles in Alaska in the mid-1960s, Variety reported.

Joining the Stranger Things star as her on-screen dad will be her real-life father Ethan Hawke, 49.

Revolver is set in 1966 and follows Jane (Maya) a teen living in Anchorage, Alaska.

The northern city is thrown into chaos after a flight carrying The Beatles to Japan makes an unannounced stop in Anchorage, sending the residents into fits of Beatlemania.

Jane thinks her ticket to adulthood involves losing her virginity to George Harrison during the band’s pit stop at a local hotel, but she learns that what she’s really seeking is right in front of her.

Not much is known about Ethan’s arc in the film, but he’s more than qualified to play Jane’s father.

The film will be directed by Finding Dory’s Andrew Stanton and written by Kate Trefry, who has previously written for Stranger Things.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, The Beatles stopped off in Anchorage on June 27, 1966, likely because a typhoon was in their path.

After hydraulic issues forced the plane to stay grounded longer than expected, the group decamped while local teens came to gawk.

The band’s last concert before their retirement from live performances was on August 29 in San Francisco’s Candlestick park.

The pivotal year saw the release of one of their greatest albums, Revolver (which wouldn’t appear until after their Alaskan trip), and by December they had started recording the pivotal LP Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Maya’s role in Revolver will be her most high-profile work to date, but she’s already attracted plenty of attention and acclaim after joining the third season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.

On Wednesday, she was seen back on set as filming for season four commences, and her brother Levon Thurman-Hawke was also spotted working on the show.

Early last month, she joined a stacked cast including Andrew Garfield, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Knoxville and Nat Wolff for the Venice Film Festival premiere of Mainstream, which was directed and co-written by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola.

She was also featured on her father’s Showtime miniseries The Good Lord Bird, in which he plays the abolitionist John Brown.

On Friday, Ethan’s Instagram account shared a black and white photo from the set of himself in costume with Maya dressed to play his daughter Annie.

The Before Sunset star recently won over critics with his experimental biopic Tesla, about the influential inventor Nikola Tesla.

He’s currently filming Robert Egger’s Viking revenge saga The Northman, which features a murderers’ row of actors including Nicole Kidman, Anya-Taylor Joy, Willem Dafoe, Alexander Skarsgård and Björk.
