I’m A Celeb 2020: Vernon Kay isolates alone in Welsh farmhouse

Vernon Kay is isolating at a lavish Welsh farmhouse complete with hot-tub, sprawling gardens and its very own gym as he prepares for the forthcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The presenter, 46, will take part in the 20th series of the long running reality show  when it launches from the unfamiliar and significantly colder Gwrych Castle in North Wales on November 15th.

And he admitted he was temporarily separated from wife Tess Daly and their two children while readying himself for the Welsh elements in a remote farmhouse on the picturesque Anglesey coast.

No expense spared: Vernon Kay is isolating at a lavish Welsh farmhouse as he prepares for the forthcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Taking to Instagram on Monday morning, he told fans: ‘So it’s been announced that I will be taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! I’m looking forward to it to be honest with you.

‘But, prior to going into the castle in North Wales we’ve been isolating separately in beautiful farm houses, bed and breakfasts, hotels, that kind of thing.

‘And I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in this place. It’s beautiful, little farm house in Anglesey.’

The presenter also offered a worrying portent of things to come by admitting the dire Welsh weather was already starting to affect him.

He added: ‘The weathers been interesting. Hideous winds at time where I haven’t been able to sleep, apart from that it’s been great.

‘I brought my own golf net so I can practice my golf swing. Look at the Moors behind me. You get the RAF flying over pretty much every day practising their low flying skills.’

Giving followers a guided tour of the property, Vernon admitted ITV had spared no expense in ensuring he was comfortable ahead of his trip to Gwrych Castle later in the week.

‘We’ve got a hot tub. Can you believe it? We’ve got a hot tub. Not been in it yet because it’s freezing,’ he revealed while entering the house through a large kitchen.

He added: ‘We’re going to the living room and once again there’s a theme, there’s a theme to my lockdown quarantine. I’ve been putting. Practicing my put. I’ve been on the cycling machine while I’ve been watching TV.

Support me: 'I thought I’d never say this as it’s quite weird but if you can give us a vote – challenges, tasks, trials, whatever they are,' he told fans ahead of his appearance on I'm A Celeb

‘I’ve got a games console. I’ve got an X-Box. Been playing Call Of Duty but I’m still rubbish at it. We’ve got a log fire – that’s been keeping me warm, and busy keeping it lit.’

Confirming he was alone ahead of his appearance on the show, he said: ‘I’ve been keeping busy, been doing all my washing, been keeping clean, and then upstairs we’ve got a handful of bedrooms, which is a waste of time because it’s only me in this farmhouse.’

The presenter also revealed a small gym adjacent to the living room as he urged fans to support him while making his way out through the back door.

‘I thought I’d never say this as it’s quite weird but if you can give us a vote – challenges, tasks, trials, whatever they are – if you don’t mind keeping me busy, because I like a challenge, I like a task, something to do,’ he said.

‘And I’m looking forward to meeting my fellow campmates and making some really good friends, because if what’s reported is true it seems like we have a really, really good cast. A talented bunch.

‘Crikey, singers, dancers, actors, actresses, Olympians – and me.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! launches at 9:00pm, ITV1 on Sunday November 15th.
