Phillip Schofield has been trialling a novel way of keeping other people at bay during the coronavirus pandemic.

The much-loved TV star, 58, took to Snapchat to share footage of himself in a huge white corset, which he donned to ‘keep people at a distance’. 

The This Morning presenter was seen to walk up the drab grey backstage corridor in a navy tartan shirt and the enormous white skirt.

Phil walked towards the camera and said that this was what he plans to wear until the end of the pandemic.

The silver fox said: ‘Until the vaccine is fully operational, I shall be wearing this to keep me Covid safe’.    

ITV have have had strict Covid safety rules on This Morning since March, and viewers are now used to Phil and co-host Holly Willoughby always standing two metres apart.

Phil’s latest backstage appearance comes as it was announced This Morning will all air on Christmas Day this year for the first time in the channel’s history.

ITV Daytime have revealed that they believe having This Morning – as well as Good Morning Britain and Lorraine – play on Christmas will make the day ‘even more special than usual’ following an ‘uncertain’ festive period. 

Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid, Lorraine Kelly, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have all been lined-up to host the programmes on December 25. 

The broadcaster is airing the popular programmes as it hopes to bag the festive ratings crown in its annual battle against the BBC.

 GMB will relive the moments created by the real stars of 2020 – celebrating Covid heroes up and down the country, from the likes of Captain Sir Tom to the incredible staff of the NHS who saved so many lives.

The Queen of Daytime, Lorraine, will also serve up an hour of heart-warming fun from 9am onwards.

The TV presenter will be letting viewers into the secrets of her festive period and sharing joy and laughter with some special guests.  

Then at 10am for the first time ever, Phillip and Holly will be hosting a special episode of This Morning on Christmas Day.
