Caroline Flack’s mother Christine will give part of the star’s fortune to charity

Caroline Flack’s mother Christine has pledged to share part of the late star’s fortune with charities she was ‘passionate about.’

According to a report from The Sun on Wednesday, Caroline’s family have decided to distribute some of her £827,691 estate to good causes after she didn’t leave a will.

Caroline tragically took her own life on February 15 in the run up to her trial for the alleged assault of her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

The publication claimed probate figures announced the value of Caroline’s estate at £2 million on Tuesday, but after debts and death duties were taken out of the account it stood at just over £827,000.

After hearing the news, Christine pledged: ‘We will use the money wisely to help good causes that Caroline was passionate about.’

If someone dies without a will they are declared intestate by law, and as Caroline is survived by her parents they have been given an equal share in her estate, with Christine reportedly acting as the legally appointed administrator.   

Caroline passed away a day after she had been told that the CPS was pursuing the court case against her following an arrest at her home over a row with Lewis in December. 

She had pleaded not guilty to assault by beating at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court in North London on December 23 and was due to go on trial at March 4.

Her management company criticised the CPS for pressing ahead with what it called her ‘show trial’ even after Lewis said he did not support it.

The ITV veteran fronted the much-loved show since its revival series in 2015, before handing over her role to pal Laura Whitmore in late 2019. 

Last month, Caroline’s mother spoke about her battle to help save her late daughter on ITV Anglia. 

She detailed: ‘We tried to talk to her and say you’ve got this fabulous career and you’ve got a nice home. But actually, that doesn’t matter, because that isn’t how they feel. I think when someone is in that place, what we say isn’t being heard.’

Amid widespread discussion over Caroline’s heartbreaking mental health battle after her suicide, in hindsight, Christine revealed her daughter feared her vulnerability would be exposed to her fans and followers. 

Christine went on: ‘She was always frightened that the public would find out that she was vulnerable and she had these dark feelings. I used to sit with Caroline and watch television, the same as everybody else, and I would say, ‘Oh I don’t like them’.

‘And she’d say: ‘Mum, you don’t even know them.’ It made me stop and think, no I don’t. We judge people and we don’t know them. We don’t know what they’re going through.’ 

Caroline’s death was ruled a suicide in August this year, with coroner Mary Hassell saying Caroline had experienced ‘fluctuating ill health’ and was ‘distressed’ at the thought of facing a trial.
