The official trailer for the upcoming animated-live-action Tom And Jerry dropped on Tuesday, showing Chloe Grace Moretz getting roped into the rivals’ longtime feud.
While navigating her new job as a wedding planner, her character Kayla hires Tom Cat to get rid of the mouse, who he has never been able to exterminate in the past.
Despite the clip’s initial tease that the furry frenemies may have formed a truce, it appears their strife simply changed locations to a swanky hotel in New York City.

‘After a lifetime of being the world’s most famous enemies, Tom & Jerry are about to start over in the big city,’ a narrator said, before Tom gets hit by a bus.
The video, then, pans to footage of Jerry making himself comfortable at a hotel and Kayla being told about the ‘mouse problem,’ leading her to enlist Tom’s help.
However, once Jerry sees the domesticated feline he points and erupts into laughter, causing Tom to turn red and slam his head into a wall, while trying to catch him.

Speaking of her time on set, Moretz told People she had ‘so much fun’ working on the film, which is set to hit theaters on March 5, 2021.
She also related to her character, who she explained is a ‘a total goofball’ and allowed her to ‘lean into who’ she is in ‘real life.’

‘I loved that she was a lot like Jerry,’ the star said of Kayla. ‘She was a girl who gunned for what she wanted to achieve but realizes that time and honesty is what will prevail in the end.’
As to what pulled her to the project, Moretz revealed she’s been watching Tom and Jerry ‘for as long as’ she can remember.
‘It was a mainstay in my household growing up and we would always crowd around to watch their silly antics play out on screen,’ she gushed.

‘Tom was a stick with a name tag (seriously) and for Jerry at least I had a little to scale model of him,’ she noted.
Moretz continued: ‘All in all it was very interesting to be able to improv opposite nothing and create with the animators and push the boundaries of what we could achieve.’
