Holly Willoughby tells Gino D’Acampo to ‘hurry up’ after he fails to show up on This Morning

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield scolded Gino D’Acampo on Tuesday’s This Morning after he failed to show up on time for his This Morning segment.

Teasing the hit ITV chat show’s day of credits, the two presenters, aged 39 and 58, went to introduce the chef, 44, ahead of his cooking feature.

Poking fun at his absence, Holly and Phil continued to talk to the empty kitchen space as they pretended Gino was there.

Phil quipped: ‘Prepare for chaos in the kitchen, Gino is here with his Tuesday truffle masterclass. Morning Gino!’

As the camera panned onto the empty kitchen, the presenter continued: ‘There he is… he did promise he would be here for the beginning of the show. But as usual, he hasn’t made it in!’

To which Holly added: ‘I love how we used to sort of readjust things, our timings, to make it fit for him and now we’re like: “No, whatever, he’s not here!”

‘Gino, wherever you are… hurry up!’ with Phil joking: ‘See you a little bit later!’

Yet despite being absent from the start of the show, Gino eventually casually showed up for his cooking segment while holding a coffee.

The Italian chef was scolded once again by Holly and Phil as they complained: ‘You were supposed to be here at half 10!’

To which Gino revealed he was late as he was wishing his great aunty happy birthday on the phone.

The chef also left fans and the presenters shocked after they warned him he had 2.5 minutes left of his segment.

Another follower commented: ‘Come on, Gino? Really? A 51-minute phone call? #ThisMorning.’

While a different account added: ‘#thismorning we will have a covid vaccine by the time gino finishes his cooking segment…’

This isn’t the first time Gino has failed to show up for a segment on This Morning and in 2019 he was absent for his Valentine’s cooking slot.

Phil said at the time: ‘We were getting in the mood for amore today – in fact we booked a gondola – and, because who better to plan your Valentine’s than Gino D’Acampo?

‘He’s not made it in yet and there is every possibility that he may be poorly.’

To which a shocked Holly replied: ‘So he may not be able to make it in at all?’

With Phil admitting: ‘Which means we’ve got a great big cookery slot at the end of the show!’

He later added: ‘Just so you know what’s happening here at the moment, we’re just figuring out whether he’s going to be here and if he isn’t going to be here what we’re actually going to do with all of that.’

Phil revealed later during the episode that Gino wouldn’t be appearing on the show as he had reportedly been sick while getting out of his car.

This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
