Strictly’s Maisie Smith and Oti Mabuse sport face masks as they leave studio

She narrowly avoided being booted off Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend after a shock dance-off against Max George.

But Maisie Smith powered through on Monday, as she was spotted leaving the studios after a day of rehearsing with her professional partner Gorka Marquez.

The Eastenders star, 19, kept it casual in pink and black gym gear as she headed home laden down with several bags following the tiring start to the week.

Sporting a bold glittering face mask, she seemed to be in good spirits as she gave a quick thumbs up before heading to her car.

She wore her ginger tresses pulled back into a loose low ponytail as she bundled up from the cold under the hood of her cropped jacket.

Bill Bailey and his pro dancing partner Oti Mabuse were also seen heading home in the dark on Monday, after enjoying a successful week on Strictly.

The South African dancer, 30, donned a vibrant red jacket with co-ordinated rouge trainers as she stepped out of the studios.

She made sure to keep herself protected with a sky blue face mask, adhering to the current Covid-19 safety regulations.

Oti carried two large black and white bags as she left rehearsals in simple black leggings and an oversized grey jumper.

She wore her dark tresses pushed back away from her face but let her curly locks fall loosely down her back.

Comedian Bill, 55, was barely recognisable as he followed his co-stars out of the studio, hiding beneath a flat cap and blue face covering.

But he stopped to give a quick salute in black joggers and a navy jacket before headed home following the long day of rehearsals.

This week’s rehearsals are well-underway after Maisie and Gorka, 30, shockingly ended up in the bottom two alongside Max George and Dianne Buswell.

But it was the Wanted star, 32, and his Australian partner, 31, who were eliminated on Sunday evening’s show after the judges saved Maisie in the dance-off.

Maisie earned 24 points out of 40 for her Cha Cha to Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper with dance partner Gorka.

But Bill and Oti saw a more successful week on Strictly after their Couple’s Choice Rapper’s Delight led them to get 27, thanks to Shirley giving them 10.

The duo left Shirley ‘flabbergasted’ with their performance, while Craig claimed they were ‘unbelievable’ together on the dance floor.

Shirley, 60, said: ‘Well I’m flabbergasted actually, the details come with hours and hours of work, I don’t know your schedule but I would hazard a guess that…’

Bill cut in to say it was ‘rigorous’, as Shirley continued: ‘Because you want it to be I would say, so I applaud you for that. You are genuine, you are the real deal.

‘I’m in shock there’s young people who can’t do that. You’re over 50 if I may say, and you look ever so much like that young hip hop get up, any men at home get up out of that arm chair and move like this man! I am in awe you’re amazing, well done.’

There have also been claims that BBC executives have banned contestants and dancers from partying after a series of COVID-19-related scares.

Contestants are said to have been told they are to take part in the series and nothing else after Maisie and her rumoured boyfriend HRVY, 21, were pictured breaking the show’s rules during filming for It Takes Two, getting a little too close for comfort.

According to The Sun, bosses are keeping an eye on the pair, fearing a romance could form and put social distancing rules at risk, after Katya Jones and Nicola Adams have already been forced to pull out of the show.

A source said: ‘There is disappointment with HRVY and Maisie after their partying was exposed last week.

‘Contestants, cast and crew have always had a few drinks after the show to let off steam.

‘But bosses have slapped a party ban on the youngsters and reminded them they are there for the show and nothing else.

‘Some older crew members have commented that they’re turning the show into Ibiza Weekender.’
