Woman and man are charged with murder of five-week-old baby in 2018

A mother sobbed as she and her boyfriend appeared in court charged with the murder of a five-week-old baby boy after he died at home, police said.

James Dean Clark, 31, and Helen Jeremy, 26, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today accused of killing Sean Clark. 

The baby boy died at an address on Neads Drive, in the Gloucestershire village of Warmley, on January 14 2018.

The pair have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

No details of the case were revealed during the short hearing at Bristol Magistrates’ Court.

Clark, of Neads Drive, Warmley, and Jeremy, of Russell Avenue, Kingswood, have been remanded in custody ahead of the court appearance.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: ‘We’ve charged two people with the murder of a five-week-old boy in 2018.

Clark and Jeremy are due to appear before Bristol Crown Court tomorrow after appearing in the city’s Magistrate’s Court today

‘James Dean Clark, 31, of Warmley and Helen Jeremy, 26, of Kingswood, have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child. 

‘The charges relate to the death of Sean Clark who died at an address in Warmley on 14 January 2018.’  

District Judge Lynne Matthews told Clark and Jeremy that the case would be sent to Bristol Crown Court.

‘You will be remanded in custody in the meantime,’ she told them.

Clark and Jeremy are due to appear before Bristol Crown Court tomorrow.
