Carrie Underwood brings My Gift: A Christmas Special to HBO Max this December

Carrie Underwood is spreading holiday cheer on HBO Max with My Gift: A Christmas Special, slated to debut December 3.

The former American Idol winner, 37, will perform songs from her first ever full-length Christmas album My Gift, which was released in September.

The singer will also perform a number of traditional holiday favorites, ‘celebrating the joy and hopefulness of the holiday.’

Underwood will be accompanied by her own band, plus a live orchestra and choir, conducted by Underwood’s close friend Rickey Minor.

The singer will also be joined by EGOT winner John Legend, who will be singing Hallelujah, an original song he co-wrote with Toby Gad, which is featured on the My Gift album.

Fans will also get a special behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Underwood recording Little Drummer Boy with her five-year-old son Isaiah.

‘I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Playtone and HBO Max to bring My Gift to life,’ Underwood said in a statement.

‘Just like the album, I hope this special will help bring some much-needed joy and become part of the soundtrack to people’s holiday festivities this year as it streams throughout the season and beyond,’ she added.

The singer recently released the bonus Favorite Time of the Year in partnership with Amazon Music earlier this month.

Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will executive produce the special through their Playtone Entertainment company.

Underwood and her manager Amy Edelblute will also executive produce, with Emmy nominee Sandra Restrepo directing the special.

Production design for the special will be handled by Tom Lenz and wardrobe styling by multiple Emmy Award-winning costume designer Marina Toybina.

‘This special is an homage to the classic, timeless holiday specials, highlighting the vocal gifts of the incomparable Carrie Underwood,” said producer Goetzman. 

‘She’s an artist who transcends genres and shows here why audiences love her around the world,’ Goetzman added.

My Gift debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Christian and Holiday charts, Underwood’s eighth straight album to debut atop the Country charts.
