David ‘Kochie’ Koch screws up again: Sunrise host makes a faux pas while greeting Tina Arena

Kochie screws up again: The moment David Koch makes a cringeworthy faux pas of a common French saying while greeting Tina Arena on Sunrise

David ‘Kochie’ Koch left Jennifer Hawkins less that impressed when he referred to her and her husband Jake Wall as ‘property flippers’ during an interview with the model on Sunrise, earlier this month.

And a week on from the awkward encounter, the 64-year-old made another faux pas  while greeting singer Tina Arena on Wednesday – mispronouncing a common French word.

Opening the segment with the title of her upcoming tour alongside his fill-in co-host Monique Wright, Kochie misarticulated the word ‘enchanté’ – calling it ‘N-chen-tay’.

‘Ahh, Tina Arena joins us now. You must be so excited about the Enchanté tour,’ he said, before pausing with an unsure look on his face and his co-star breaking out in laughter.

‘It’s not ‘en-chen-tay’, is it?’ Monique said, as Tina awkwardly stood on-screen in Melbourne with her arms folded.

‘It’s enchanté Kochie,’ Tina said, before chuckling into the microphone. ‘I love it.’

With Kochie mimicking, Tina reiterated: ‘It’s the Enchanté tour… Enchanté… exactly… very nice.’

How embarrassing: David ‘Kockie’ Koch awkwardly mispronounced a common French saying on Wednesday’s Sunrise while greeting Tina Arena alongside fill-in co-host Monique Wright

Kochie’s gaffe is the second this month, after calling Jennifer, 36, and her 37-year-old husband Jake ‘property flippers’ when they previously insisted they were not.

The supermodel has, on numerous occasions, said she did want to be known under the title.

However, Kochie used it anyway while speaking to her on Sunrise on November 10.

He described her as a multi-tasking mother-of-one who ‘flipped her Sydney waterfront home’ – referring to the sale of the couple’s $24million Newport mansion, which they built after buying the land for $4million in 2014.

Jennifer ended up snapping at Kochie, saying ‘You said we flipped! We did not flip our house’ while pointing her finger at him.

Kochie responded: ‘Oh! You two are property moguls though! You’re doing so well.’

Viewers have since called for the father of four to ‘get the chop’ from hosting the show – branding him as the ‘most arrogant person on TV’.

‘Time for this guy to get the chop, he had his time in the limelight!’ one viewer wrote, while another added: ‘I stopped watching Sunrise during the pandemic. Kochie is so condescending. Their ‘interviews’ are vacuous at best.’

‘Should be removed!’ another wrote, while a fourth agreed: ‘Indeed yes, can’t stand him!’

‘Good on you Jennifer, he needs to go – can’t stand him!’ another raged.
