I’m A Celebrity Australia 2020: Aerial photos show rural NSW camp

I’m a Celebrity campers arrive on set in rural NSW as aerial photos reveal the very rugged conditions the pampered stars will have to endure during filming

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia has begun filming in Dungay, a rural town in north-eastern New South Wales.

And aerial images obtained by Daily Mail Australia show the very rugged conditions the stars will be confronted with while filming the Channel 10 show.

The town is located just north of Byron Bay and less than an hour from the Gold Coast.

The Australian production of I’m a Celebrity has taken over the set of the UK version, which this year is being filmed in a castle in Wales.

Dungay has a population of just 316 residents.

The photos demonstrate how the hastily built structures on the site are surrounded by large trees and huge swathes of greenery.

There is also a swimming pool filled with dirty water located nearby, which will most likely be used for challenges.

Several production cabins and trailers are also visible on the outback set.

Sources claim that Australia’s Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen and Australian Idol alum Paulini Curuenavuli both arrived at the campsite on Tuesday.

The singers apparently skydived into Clarrie Hall Dam, about 15 kilometres south-west of Murwillumbah.

Channel Ten announced that due to the pandemic, the show has relocated from the South African jungle to rural NSW this year.

Usually filmed in early January with parts of the competition broadcast live, the show will also lose its live format.

It comes after disgraced celebrity chef Pete Evans was sensationally dumped from I’m a Celebrity… at the eleventh hour for posting a neo-Nazi meme to Facebook over the weekend.

‘Network 10 can confirm that Pete Evans will not be appearing on this season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.

According to former Channel 10 executive Rob McKnight, Evans was left ‘furious’ by the decision.

‘This morning at 6:30am the call came through from Beverley McGarvey [Channel 10’s chief content officer] to the production house and she said, “He’s out, don’t let him go into the jungle”,’ McKnight told Nova FM’s Fitzy & Wippa.

‘He is now packing his bags and returning to Byron Bay, which isn’t a big drive from where they shoot I’m a Celebrity, and he is apparently furious,’ he added.
