A teenager has crashed into the porch of a house before driving several feet with the front door lodged between the car windscreen and roof.  

The 18-year-old man was driving a silver Audi before he smashed into the door on Ashworth Road, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire at 7.43pm on Friday. 

The driver suffered head injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

WYP Roads Policing Unit tweeted: ‘Driver collided with a vehicle, then the front porch of a house – before then continuing to drive for several metres with front door attached to car. 

‘Driver arrested suspected unfit through drink/drugs. #wypthecost #fatal4.’

He was taken to hospital for his injuries which are not thought to be serious.   

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called to Ashworth Close in Dewsbury at about 7.43pm on Friday November 20 to a report of a collision between a car and the front of a property.

Officers attended the scene in which an Audi car had been in collision with another car beforehand.

‘The 18-year-old male driver of an Audi suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment for the injuries which are not thought to be serious.

‘Enquiries remain ongoing today and anyone who saw what occurred who has not spoken to police is asked to contact the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101 referencing police log 1555 of November 20.’
