Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa accused of copying music video by the band Dreamwife for new Prisoner clip

Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa accused of copying music video by the band Dream Wife for new Prisoner clip: ‘Thought the new Miley vid looked familiar…’

It’s said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, and so far they seem to just be very, very flattered.

London-based pop punk band Dream Wife took to Instagram on Friday with the claim that the new video collaboration for Prisoner from Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa is a direct ripoff of their own music video for the track So When You Gonna….

And the copycat move is difficult to argue, as one of the main conceits of both videos is a wild POV shot from inside a person’s open mouth, framed by teeth.

Called out: London-based band Dream Wife took to Instagram on Friday with a somewhat damning accusation, claiming that new video Prisoner from Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa was a ripoff from their own clip

The vibe of both videos is also very similar, showing girl punk stars rocking out and being wild.

Dream Wife’s clip premiered all the way back in May of this year.

The band, made up of members Alice Go, Rakel Mjöll and Bella Podpadec, shared several side-by-side images from both videos on their social media, with the top image showing Miley and Dua whilst the bottom image showed near identical compositions from their own video.

They captioned the incendiary post, ‘Thought the new Miley vid looked familiar… those pearly white LA teeth needs some grit tho. rofl.’

And on their Instagram stories, the band posted further material, including a side-by-side image of Miley holding a guitar next to bandleader Alice doing same, both seen through the open mouth motif.

The next brief video snippet showed one of the band members laughing and shaking her head incredulously at the mimicry.

Another image showed the same parallel of Miley and Alice, with a caption over it proclaiming, ‘Can not stop laughing over this cosplay!!!!!’

The former Disney talent posted an Instagram comment which said: ‘We saw the image online and didn’t realize it was yours. We will absolutely tag you for your work.’

Later in the message, Cyrus wrote, ‘thanks for sharing your art and inspiring us.’

Miley originally posted the cake art to promote a charitable collaboration with nonprofit Planned Parenthood, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and her own Happy Hippie Foundation.
