Police launch murder probe after man, 45, is stabbed to death in Croydon – as suspect, 34, is arrested nearby

  • Paul McCarroll was stabbed to death on Oaks Road in Kenley, yesterday evening
  • The 45-year-old was found with fatal stab wounds and died shortly before 7pm
  • A male suspect, 34, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody 

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in Croydon yesterday evening. 

A 34-year-old man was arrested over the death of Paul McCarroll, 45, who police say knew his alleged killer.

Met Police were called to reports of a stabbing at a house in the Kenley area at 6.16pm last night.

The victim was found with fatal stab injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.50pm despite the efforts of emergency services.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

The suspect was taken to a south London hospital for treatment to a minor injury and then into custody, where he remains. 

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and a crime scene remains in place.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
