Meet Danny Wallis: The entrepreneur who dropped nearly $12m on The Block

Meet Danny Wallis: The Melbourne IT entrepreneur who dropped close to $12million on THREE properties at The Block 2020 finale

Each of the five teams on The Block walked away with a tidy profit during Sunday’s finale episode.

And for three of the teams, they have Melbourne-based IT entrepreneur Danny Wallis to thank.

The CEO and managing director of DWS, bought three properties for almost $12million, after having placed very generous bids on all five homes.

Danny purchased Sarah and George’s property for $4,000,002, as well as Daniel and Jade’s for $3.8million, and Harry and Tash’s for $4million.

After Jimmy and Tam were crowned the winners, having earned an incredible profit of $966,000, host Scott Cam introduced Danny to the group.

‘It’s the Danny Wallis show!’ Scott announced, referencing the huge amount of cash the wealthy businessman dropped in just one day.

‘All the houses are great, even the ones I didn’t buy, Danny playfully told the group.

He later admitted in a piece to camera that it had been ‘a busy day’ and an ‘expensive day’.

Danny certainly has the cash to splash, with the ASX (stock exchange) reporting in February that his company DWS saw its revenue increase by one per cent to $83million, in the half-year ending December 2019.

One of his purchases is for a worthy cause, with news.com.au reporting that Danny plans on donating Daniel and Jade’s home to the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

Daniel and Jade announced in a promotional video for the show earlier on in the year, that part of the reason they signed on was to support their daughter Isla.

‘For us, The Block’s massive  because we have a daughter who has a chromosome disorder — she’s one of eight in the world to have this disorder,’ Jade explained.

‘With that financial support Isla can get any extra help that she needs.’

Danny is a familiar face at The Block auctions, including last year where he not only placed a bid on all five properties but also purchased Mitch and Mark’s for $3.374million.

He also purchased one of the properties in the 2012 season for $1.4million.
