The Block: Inside winners Jimmy and Tam’s humble rental home as they become millionaires

Jimmy and Tam Wilkins were crowned the winners of The Block on Sunday, netting a profit of $966,000 in addition to their $100,000 cash prize.

And after the pair confirmed on Monday that they plan to buy their own property on the Sunshine Coast, pictures of their current Queensland rental reveal their humble beginnings as they prepare for their next adventure.

Looking worlds away from their divinely crafted ‘Palm Springs’ style property they designed on the show, their current home in Moreton Bay, just north of Brisbane, is much more quaint and cosy.

Champions: The Block winners Jimmy, 33, and Tam, 31, are planning on purchasing a home Sunshine Coast with their prize money. The pair currently live in a rental home in Queensland

The house, which sold for $495,000 in 2015, features a narrow kitchen which leads on to a dining and lounge room, with wooden floors and white walls throughout.

Despite its small size, the property is light and airy, with three windows and a glass door allowing natural sunlight to pour through.

In photos taken this month, it’s apparent the exterior of the property needs a little TLC, as the paint on the outside walls looks a little drab and in need of a touch-up.

Only this week, the duo revealed they plan to leave their home in favour of something up north, to be closer to their family.

‘We think that we might go into the Sunshine Coast hinterland,’ Tam, 31, told Daily Mail Australia.

‘My parents live in Noosa, so being close to them would be really awesome. So that’s we think where we’re going to end up.’

The couple explained that the prize money will be put toward purchasing their first home and spoiling their four-year-old daughter, Frankie.

‘Oh, we will definitely get her some presents,’ the proud mother revealed.

‘Frankie doesn’t understand the value of money… as she is only four, so you know, we don’t want her to get over the top to spend our money for us.’

‘We’re just going to we’ve decided we’re just going to have the rest of the year off and celebrate with friends and family,’ they said.

‘We just want to relax a bit. This year has been absolutely massive. So to have a bit of time with our friends and family will be so amazing.’
