Greg James hits back at critics after his reaction to I’m A Celebrity final

Greg James has been forced to hit back at critics after he filmed his live reaction to Friday’s I’m A Celebrity final.

In a video posted to his Twitter, the radio presenter, 34, shouted ‘f**k off’ when Giovanna Fletcher was announced as the winner with his colleague Jordan North missing out on the top spot.

Friday’s final episode saw Giovanna, 35, crowned the first-ever Queen of the Castle with Jordan, 30, finishing in second place and Vernon Kay in third.

After posting the video, which shared his disappointment, Greg was slammed by critics for the clip and he was forced to hit back, saying: ‘No need to call the be kind police!’

He wrote: ‘This is the reaction to a pal not winning a show where you have to eat b******s and sit in maggots.

‘Don’t take it too seriously. Gi is lovely and a worthy winner but I’m allowed to be disappointed for Jordan. No need to call the be kind police.’

In the short clip, Greg seemed less than impressed with the result as he shouted: “Oh f**k off!”, while Jordan congratulated his campmate on becoming the first-ever Queen of the Castle.

His reaction came hours after he tweeted in certainty of Jordan’s victory, urging fans to film their reactions when hosts Ant and Dec announced the winner.

Greg said he wanted to show Jordan ‘the nation going WILD’ for him on BBC Radio 1, but was awkwardly forced to correct himself just hours later and tell his followers not to ‘post your vids’ after the result.

After sharing his candid reaction video, the radio DJ was quickly criticised by I’m A Celebrity fans, who angrily penned on Twitter that he was being a ‘sore loser’.

One fan wrote: ‘I beg your pardon? I won’t be accepting any Gi slander thank you’

While another said: ‘Sore loser much? Best person won! Jordan did do good though!’

And a third fumed: ‘What happened to the #beKind mantra @gregjames ? Bit strong eh! @jordannorth1 is a powerhouse and I’m sure he’s fine!’

However, some Twitter users were quick to agree with Greg, arguing that Jordan had been ‘robbed’ as they were disappointed their favourite missed out on the crown.

Yet despite not winning the reality TV show, a PR brand expert has predicted that Jordan could still be the ‘very big winner’ on the ITV series.

They went on to explain that all three finalists will be landing ‘absolutely huge’ deals which will make them all even ‘more recognisable’ after the series’ success.

PR brand expert Mark Borkowski told the Mirror: ‘This series has been huge because of lockdown so there have been more viewers than normal and I think they can all do well.

‘If there are opportunities on the other side once they come out, brands will look at the audience and how big it is and that makes them more recognisable as such.

‘The earnings of all these three with long term TV options and working with brands is absolutely huge. We are talking deals worth six figures.’

Talking about what kind of projects the stars can expect to land, Mark said Jordan will be venturing into TV as well as his radio shows, Vernon will be a ‘big name’ for men’s fashion and Giovanna will have a lot of ‘opportunities’ away from social media.

Jordan also revealed on Saturday’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… The Daily Drop that he is ‘really proud’ of himself for making it all the way to the final – despite his fears.

The radio host, who was notoriously scared of everything in the I’m A Celebrity trials, said he has been able to become ‘braver and stronger’ by going on the show.

He continued: ‘I’m really proud of myself. It’s over the past couple of days I’ve been able to give myself a bit of credit and think, maybe I am a bit brave and maybe I am a bit stronger than I think.

‘The journey I came on. I was scared of everything. Now, I feel like I can take – not everything – but more things.’
