Melissa McCarthy ‘loves it in Australia and wants to make a series here’ – as she enjoys her time in Byron Bay while filming Nicole Kidman’s Nine Perfect Strangers

Melissa McCarthy has been residing in Byron Bay with her family over the past few months while filming the new Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers.

And the 50-year-old actress is reportedly having so much fun in the northern coastal town of NSW that she’s now considering filming her next project in Australia.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Melissa has enjoyed working on the $100million project in Byron Bay and wants to film her next series God’s Favorite Idiot Down Under.

‘They just love it in Australia and absolutely want to make the series here,’ an insider told the publication.

The source said: ‘With everything going on in the US right now, the pandemic is out of control, they want to stay here.’

It comes after The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed Melissa is starring with her husband Ben Falcone on God’s Favorite Idiot – a film which he is also creating.

Netflix has commissioned a 16-episode first season of the series, which stars Ben as a character called Clark Thompson.

Ben’s character apparently has to juggle his appointment as the Lord’s messenger on Earth alongside a job in tech support.

Melissa and Ben got married in 2005 and have worked together several times since including on the 2014 movie Tammy.

Meanwhile, Melissa is currently in Australia filming upcoming TV series Nine Perfect Strangers, which is based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty.

The $100million production is being filmed in Byron Bay and other parts of NSW.

The series will tell the story of nine stressed-out urbanites who escape to a wellness retreat run by Nicole Kidman’s character.

Filming kicked off in August and is expected to run for approximately 19 weeks.
