Toddler dies in NYE heartbreak after paramedics race to one-year-old’s home over report of ‘sudden death’

A one-year-old child died suddenly on New Year’s Eve at a home in Glasgow. 

Emergency services were called to reports of a ‘sudden death’ at the house in Jura Street, Govan, at around 9.20am on Thursday. 

Police said the child was taken to hospital but pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The youngster’s death is being treated as unexplained but detectives said they do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.

A post mortem examination will take place later.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘Around 9.20am on Thursday, 31 December, 2020, police received a report of the sudden death of a 1-year-old baby at a property in Jura Street, Glasgow. 

‘The baby was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children, however, pronounced dead a short time later. 

‘There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances although the death is being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post mortem.’
