Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have begun filming for the 2021 series of Saturday Night Takeaway after the last series was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The presenting duo took to Instagram to share a snap of a scene from an upcoming sketch, with Ant crying out in horror after being cuffed to a chair.

The post was the pair’s first since it was revealed that Ant was engaged to his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett after proposing on Christmas Eve.

In the snap, Ant appeared to be in grave peril as he screamed while being trapped on the chair.

No doubt the sketch will be another star-studded serial, with last year’s, titled Men in Brown seeing the pair join an extraterrestrial agency fighting a shape-shifting alien threat.

The pair captioned their post: ‘What the hell’s going on here? We’re back at work that’s what! Bit of covid-compliant filming… Who’s excited for the new series?’

Last year’s Saturday Night Takeaway was cut short as the country was plunged into its first COVID-19 lockdown, with the pair filming one episode without an audience, and turning the final two shows into compilations recorded from home.

On New Year’s Eve it was revealed Ant had proposed to Anne-Marie after nearly three years of dating.

The presenter has been linked to the personal assistant, 43, since March 2018 and it is expected that a ‘thrilled’ Dec will ‘act as the best man’ at their wedding – just as he was at Ant’s first nuptials back in 2006.

Ant’s forthcoming nuptials comes three years after he confirmed he had split from his wife of 12 years, the pair are said to have finalised their divorce in April last year.

A spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Ant and Amzie are delighted to announce their engagement. The proposal took place on Christmas Eve at home in a very romantic setting.’

While a pal told The Sun: ‘Ant has been planning this for some time – but wanted to make sure the moment was just right.

‘He’s a traditionalist, so got down on one knee after first checking with Anne Marie’s family that he had their blessing. It was super-romantic, and obviously Anne-Marie said “yes” straight away.

‘Obviously getting engaged in the midst of a pandemic isn’t ideal when it comes to planning a wedding… at the moment a summer ceremony is looking extremely unlikely, so it may well be a 2022 affair.’

They added that Ant is expected to ask his co-host Dec to be his best man, and that the presenter thoughtfully designed Anne-Marie’s ring himself.

Dec was also best man at Ant’s first wedding to ex Lisa in Buckinghamshire back in 2006, and is said to be ‘thrilled’ about the engagement.

Ant also got the honour of fulfilling the best man role at Dec’s nuptials to Ali Astall in 2015, where the duo wore matching bright blue suits.

Although Dec joked to the Mirror over the weekend that he is yet to be asked to be best man at the wedding.

He told the publication: ‘He hasn’t asked me yet. I wait to be asked. We’ll see!’
