Marnie Simpson says she was determined to have the ‘whole family structure’ for son Rox

Marnie Simpson has said that she was determined to have the ‘whole family structure’ for her son Rox, 15 months.

It comes as the former Geordie Shore star, 28, proved that she and her fiancé Casey Johnson were still going strong after hinting that they had split.

Talking on her Marnie’s Home Truths podcast with her mother, Sharon Kenney, the reality star praised her parent for raising her as a single mother.

Marnie said that she has ‘so much respect’ for single parents and said as she didn’t have the ‘whole family structure’ when she was younger, she wanted it for her son.

She said: ‘Since I became a mum, I have so much respect for single parents. Like on a serious note, I don’t know how you do it.’

To which her mother Sharon replied: ‘It’s lonely, it’s hardwork, you’ve got to be mum and dad. I have got so much respect for all these single mums and dads as well, there’s a lot of single dads as well.’

Marnie noted how her mother didn’t have a car when they were younger and that they would use the bus to get everywhere.

She said: ‘It’s really weird but like buses were a big part of my childhood, you didn’t have a car.’

To which Sharon added: ‘I think people just look down at them, they are the real heroes aren’t they? The real heroes.

‘Do you know how hard it is to bring up a child anyway, but to go out there and do it alone, to bring another human being up?’

Marnie said that it has made her reflect on her own life, she said: ‘Because I didn’t have it when I was younger… the whole family structure. I was determined to have it with Rox.’

In 2018, Marnie revealed that her father had tragically passed away after discussing their relationship on Channel 5’s In Therapy.

On the show, Marnie sobbed as she recalled how he left her and her mum Sharon Kenney when she was a baby, adding that she finds it easier to ‘block out’ her heartache.

The reality star also praised her mum Sharon for being so dedicated to her family and raising them alone.

‘I can’t really fault my mam, she’s done so well,’ Marnie said. ‘I feel like she would die for us. She would jump in front of a bullet.’

It comes after Marnie proved that she and her fiancé Casey are going strong despite claiming that she was having a ‘tough time’ amid split speculation.

The reality star has been sharing a collection of snaps and videos with Casey after she unfollowed her partner of two-and-a-half years, 25, on social media and removed his name from her Instagram bio, but has since re-followed him.

Just last week, Marnie admitted that she was having a ‘tough time’ and cryptically added that ‘no one will ever know what goes on behind closed doors’.

Responding to speculation that she and Casey had split, Marnie said on her Instagram story that same day: ‘I’m getting a lot of messages, a lot of questions.

‘If I’m honest, like, I know everyone means well I just want everyone to respect my privacy that’s it really, I don’t wanna talk about it.

‘Yeah, it’s a tough time, everyone is going through a tough time at the minute, I’m not gonna moan.’

She added: ‘What I’ve realised is over this past year, is that no one will ever know what goes on behind closed doors, I know that from personal experience… no one knows scenarios, details, situations, no one knows what’s going on in someone’s head, mind, treat people how you want to be treated.’

The day prior, Marnie uploaded a ‘new beginnings’ image quote and she captioned the picture with a mother and son emoji, seemingly implying that her partner is absent.

Her followers flooded her social media account, sharing their thoughts on the possible breakup.

However, on Thursday Marnie shared a heartwarming video of her Casey playing with their son Rox.

In the clip, their 15-month-old son was seen resting on a leather sofa and holding onto a curtain while Casey dipped his head back and fourth in a game of peekaboo.

Her fiancé held Rox’s dummy and planted a kiss on his cheek while Marnie said: ‘Oh my heart, my heart! Let me do it.’

The post came after the reality star had shared another cryptic picture with Rox last Monday and said: ‘You’re all I need in life baby boy’ (sic).

Marnie and Casey first became in an item in June 2017 after they appeared on the reality show, Single AF together.

They welcomed their first child in October 2019 and they reside in a stunning five bedroom house in Bedfordshire.

They announced their engagement in August when Casey dropped down on one knee during a romantic proposal in their garden.
