A McDonald’s customer has slammed ‘absolutely disgusting’ scenes at a London branch of the global fast food chain after an overworked employee ‘close to tears’ handled a large order on her own.

Video taken at the restaurant in Ealing shows the female worker carrying dozens of takeaway bags on a table inside while a drove of delivery drivers wait outside.

A man recording a video posted to Twitter says: ‘Look at this, no staff. A multibillion dollar company can’t afford one person to just stand there.’

The man wrote: ‘About 15 drivers outside waiting to pick up their Uber Eats orders, and they had one woman alone running back and fourth between the kitchen and handing out the orders.

‘She was so overwhelmed and she was close to tears.’

He added that the female worker got to a point where she was left ‘frozen to the spot not knowing what to do’.

McDonald’s is only open for drive-thru and delivery during the third national lockdown.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: ‘The video in question shows orders waiting to be picked up by delivery drivers, and we are working with our delivery partners to ensure we eradicate delays in collection wherever possible.

‘Other team members were of course present and supporting each other as usual.’
