ABC comedy series Rosehaven is renewed for a fifth season

Popular ABC comedy series Rosehaven has been renewed for a fifth season.

The eight-part series will begin filming in coming weeks after it was halted due Covid-19 restrictions, reports TV Tonight. 

Actors Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola will once again be back on set in the Tasmanian regional town.

This season, Daniel (Luke) appears to regret splitting from the love of his life, and Emma (Celia) finally gets what she’s always wanted: a Rosehaven nemesis 

‘We cannot wait because we’ve been here for a couple of weeks and I just don’t like lying to the good people of Tasmania, who on the street ask, “What are you doing here?”‘ Celia said. 

When asked if they could share any spoilers, Luke told TV Tonight: ‘To be honest, ideally, season five will be like season four.

‘In that everything’s back to normal, I guess. Even though we’ll be filming with very Covid-safe protocols.’

For those working behind the scenes, the Covid-19 pandemic has stalled the production process a fair bit.

‘We were deciding on whether to write an episode about Covid, and whether we should acknowledge it in the show,’ Luke said.

‘But it was too hard and we didn’t know what it would be like at that point in time. We hope the show is an escape for people.’

While casting is still under way, Celia and Luke, who co-wrote the series during the lockdown in Melbourne, said the majority of the actors will be Tasmanian.  

In 2020, Rosehaven received four AACTA Award nominations

Season five of Rosehaven is expected to air on ABC later this year
