Melania Trump did not write her own ‘thank you’ notes to White House staff who cared for her family for the past four years, CNN reports.
The former First Lady, who left Washington alongside her husband on Wednesday morning, instead outsourced the the work to a lower-level staffer.
The typed notes – addressed to butlers, cooks, housekeepers, ushers and maintenance workers – were reportedly written in Mrs Trump’s ‘voice’ to make it appear as if she had composed them herself.
The ex-FLOTUS, 51, subsequently signed her name at the bottom of each note.
According to CNN, there around ’80 or so staff’ who received one of the messages.
It has been an important tradition for First Ladies to leave notes to White House employees before they leave the residence for the final time. The First Families often become close to staffers and the notes become ”cherished keepsakes’.
But sources told the news network Wednesday that Mrs Trump has been ‘checked out’ in recent weeks and is ‘not sad to be leaving’ the White House.

Society publicist R. Couri Hay told The New York Times on Wednesday that he believes the one-time fashion model was ‘a reluctant First Lady’ who took on the role ‘for her husband’.
‘I think that you will find that she will be even less visible, and less available [after she leaves Washington],’ he stated.
Kellyanne Conway, who served as Senior Counselor to the President, told the Times that Mrs Trump will be remembered warmly.
‘Melania is and will continue to be the most popular Trump,’she stated.
‘As First Lady, she was fully engaged, but not overexposed. There remains a curiosity and a mystery about her.’

On Wednesday morning, Mrs Trump hands with her husband as he ended his time as President.
The couple walked side-by-side across the White House lawn, before boarding Marine One on their way to Air Force Base Andrews.
The outgoing FLOTUS cut a chic figure in a black Chanel coat, which she teamed with stylish sunglasses, black Christian Louboutin heels, and a $70,000 Hermes Birkin bag.
Once at Air Force Base Andrews, Trump paid tribute to his wife as he addressed a crowd of supporters.
‘Our First Lady has been a woman of great grace and beauty, and so popular with the people, so popular,’ he stated.
The couple then flew to Florida, with Mrs Trump changing into a much more relaxed ensemble to signify the start of a new life
He then welcomed his spouse to the stage to say her final words as FLOTUS.
‘Being your First Lady was my greatest honor,’ she said.
‘Thank you for your love and support. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all, God bless your families and God bless this beautiful nation.’
The couple then flew to Florida, with Mrs Trump changing into a much more relaxed ensemble to signify the start of a new life.
To the delight of awaiting media, she stunned in a colorful Gucci kaftan, proving that she will still generate attention and turn heads as a former First Lady.
