Hannah Feld is privately prosecuting her brother Jonathan Feld, 61, (pictured) for swindling their mother out of more than £1million, a court heard
A woman is privately prosecuting her brother for swindling their mother out of more than £1million, a court heard.
Hannah Feld claims Jonathan Feld, 61, took the money when their mother was suffering from dementia.
Mr Feld, of Kilburn, London, faces criminal charges for taking £155,853. But his sister claims this sum is ten times that – and plans on taking civil action against him.
Mr Feld appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court today charged with theft, acquiring or using criminal property and concealing criminal property to the sum of £155,853.
But solicitor Tony Jacobs told the court Ms Feld believes that figure is ‘in excess of a million pounds’ and was taken between October 2014 and September 2018.
Wearing a red checked shirt, blue jeans and large black face-mask, Mr Feld told District Judge Alexander Jacobs he was not yet ready to enter a plea because he had not spoken to a solicitor.

The judge asked: ‘You know the allegations your sister makes against you, are they true, will you contest them, or is it more complicated than that?’
Mr Feld Replied: ‘I’m unable to say anything but I would like to.
‘With all the pandemic and pressures we are all under this has gone on so long.’
Feld has not yet entered a plea to theft, acquiring criminal property and concealing criminal property.
He will next appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 28.
