The Block’s Scott Cam ‘saves the day by buying Jimmy and Tam’s Brighton home’

The Block’s Jimmy and Tam Wilkins were forced to put their $4.2million Brighton home back on the market after buyer Emese Fajk failed to pay up after auction last year. 

Now, reports claim that The Block host Scott Cam, 58, has quietly ‘swooped in’ to save the day by secretly buying the mansion himself.

‘He and everyone involved wanted to keep it very quiet,’ an insider told Monday’s New Idea magazine of Scott’s alleged purchase.  

It’s unclear how much Scott, who already boasts a multi-million dollar property portfolio, would have shelled out for the swanky pad.   

Nine has refused to comment on these rumours. 

It wouldn’t be the first time Scott has secretly splashed out on a property that was renovated on The Block. 

In September last year, the media veteran revealed that he’d secretly purchased an Art Deco apartment in Port Melbourne that was renovated on The Block in 2016. 

Scott, who has hosted The Block for a decade, spent $2.2 million on the bolthole in 2017, and lives there for four months of the year.

The apartment, which was built as part of a challenge on the show, wasn’t auctioned off during The Block’s finale, but rather was placed on the market after the show had wrapped.  

‘I loved this building so much I wanted to buy one of the apartments,’ Scott told The Herald Sun in November.  

Cyber security specialist Emese Fajk, 28, was the mystery buyer who bought Jimmy and Tam’s winning property during The Block’s finale in November last year.

Ms Fajk presented receipts of bank transfers indicating the money for the home had gone through, but the large sum never reached Channel Nine’s bank accounts.  

The settlement period for the property, which fetched $4.256million on auction day at a profit of $966,000, has now passed and the original contract is void.

In December, the devastated couple choked back tears as they told A Current Affair how they’d been left blindsided by the strange turn of events.

‘Here we are now not knowing what’s going to happen. It’s something no one ever saw coming, no one ever expected, but it’s something we now have to deal with,’ Jimmy said. 

When confronted by Nine reporter Alison Piotrowski, Ms Fajk insisted she had paid the deposit for the property and had receipts to prove it. 

‘I’m trying to find out what’s going on,’ she claimed 

She then took to social media to claim she had been ‘thrown under the bus’. 

‘I didn’t get forms in time that I needed to sign, I had to find crucial information on my own, even though I paid someone else to make sure there are no hiccups,’ she wrote.

‘I still believe there is a happy ending here somewhere for everyone involved.’
