‘I know a lot of y’all have seen me smile on social media and say I don’t seem as hurt or burdened by this, but that’s the farthest thing [from the truth],’ Dale said.

He credited his family and friends for helping him get through the tough time before adding there’s ‘no one person to blame’ for the demise of their relationship.

‘This time has sucked, and thank God that I have the friends and the family that I have, because they’ve literally had to carry me through the last two-plus weeks.’

‘Building a relationship in general is tough. Especially when you’re doing it in the public eye,’ the season 16 winner continued.

‘Media will take things and run with them. People will spread lies or always want to point the finger, but the fact of the matter is, there’s no one person to blame in this situation.

‘Like every relationship, we’ve had our ups and downs and have gone through our things, but the statements that have come out didn’t come out of nowhere.’

Dale said he still loves Clare and respects her ‘enough to let her know how I feel, even if that’s against the expectations of everybody else.’

‘It’s gonna take time. I wanted nothing more than to make this relationship work, and I put my heart and soul into it each and every day. I wanted nothing more than to build a healthy relationship,’ he added.

‘While this is going to be difficult, what you’ll see from me is trying to practice what I preach and continue to put my best foot forward each and every day. And while trying to find some sense of normalcy, I’m also going to continue to try and find joy and happiness in each day, and continue to share that. Everything else is in God’s hands.’

It was revealed last week that Dale and Clare had called it quits after five months together. The model made the announcement on social media and it was said to have ‘blindsided’ the Bachelorette.

He wrote: ‘I wanted to share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways. We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time.

‘We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another.’

Clare revealed she was blindsided by the split in a public statement: ‘I was made aware of a “mutual” statement at the same time you all were, so I’ve needed some time to really digest this.’

A source close to the couple has since told E! News that Clare believes he was unfaithful, allegedly having an affair with NYC-based real estate agent Eleonora Srugo.

He and Eleonora have reportedly been in contact since at least 2019, and Clare grew suspicious of the friendship when they returned to their real lives after they finished filming The Bachelorette.

The insider said: ‘Clare has always been skeptical. She never trusted the friendship and thought it was shady… Dale would always reassure Clare that it was nothing serious.’

Clare starred in season 16 of The Bachelorette, but quit by the fourth episode, as she quickly fell for Dale and accepted his proposal.

She told host Chris Harrison: ‘How he makes me feel is literally, like, sunbeams out of my heart, like, into the world. And I know that sounds so stupid, but I just feel it to my core. And whether it took one day or 10 days or two weeks or two years, this man makes me happy.’

In a first for the franchise, Tayshia Adams, 30, took over for Clare for the rest of the season, before getting engaged with Zac Clark, 37.

Clare was bowled over by Dale and told Chris Harrison: 'How he makes me feel is literally, like, sunbeams out of my heart, like, into the world. And I know that sounds so stupid, but I just feel it to my core. And whether it took one day or 10 days or two weeks or two years, this man makes me happy.'
