‘I’m proud of you’: Home and Away actress Sam Frost shares childhood photo as she pens emotional letter to her younger self battling depression

Sam Frost has shared a photograph from her childhood, alongside an emotional Instagram post about her battle with depression.

In the image, a fresh-faced Sam appears to be wearing braces in her teenage years.

The Home and Away actress, 31, explained her sister had sent her the throwback picture, which she thought was ‘disgusting’ at first. 

Sam Frost became a household name after being The Bachelorette and moving onto a career in acting. At the moment she plays Jasmine Delaney on Home And Away.

However, she was soon forced her to tears after remembering the sad time in her life. 

‘I looked at my face. My eyes. And I just cried. I remember how awful this period in my life was,’ she wrote. 

‘I was EXTREMELY depressed, for a very long time. My life had been full of incredibly difficult challenges… I couldn’t handle it anymore and I felt like my life wasn’t worth sticking around for.’

The former Bachelorette then went on to pen a touching letter to her teenage self, reflecting on how far she had come.

‘If I could go back in time, I’d tell younger me…. I know it doesn’t feel like it right now, but YOU ARE GOING TO BE OK. You are going to have the most beautiful life. Your pain will go away, I promise.

‘And future you, will be SO PROUD that you never gave up… you somehow found strength. You found the light. More importantly you found yourself,’ she added. 

Sam’s heartfelt post was filled with words of encouragement from both fans and media personalities.

Among them were comments from fellow Home and Away co-stars Georgie Parker and Sarah Roberts. 

‘Beautiful girl. Beautiful friend. Inside & out. This girl that found strength & light & has taught others how to do the same. Thank you for sharing your light. Love you,’ Sarah wrote.

Meanwhile, Georgie added: ‘Big hugs and love to you young Sam.’

Speaking to Who Magazine in April, Sam said she wants to use her profile to help others suffering from depression and shine a light on the issue.

‘For me, depression has been something that I’ve battled my whole life,’ she said.
