Jeopardy reveals Dr. Oz, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie and Dr. Sanjay Gupta as the next wave of guest hosts

While the first wave of guest hosts filling in for late Jeopardy host Alex Trebek have yet to debut, the second wave has  just been announced.

Dr. Oz host Mehmet Oz, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Today’s Savannah Guthrie and Dr. Sanjay Gupta were named as the next wave of guest hosts, according to Variety.

Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings stepped in as the first guest host, and while he’s still hosting current episodes, it’s unclear when his stint will end.

As with the first wave of guest hosts, a donation will be made to the next wave of hosts’ charity of choice.

The amount donated will be equal to, ‘the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host.’

‘We look forward to each guest host bringing their unique abilities to the show and to our contestants winning a lot of money that we can match for charity,’ Richards said in a statement.

After Jennings stint is over, he will be replaced by executive producer Mike Richards for two weeks, while the first wave of guest hosts prepare for their stints.

The first wave of hosts begins with Katie Couric, who will be the first ever female host of America’s Favorite Quiz Show.

She will be followed by Super Bowl winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 60 Minutes correspondent Bill Whitaker and actress/neuroscientist Mayim Biyalik.

Beloved host Alex Trebek hosted the long-running talk show for 37 seasons, starting in 1984 until the start of the current season.

Trebek announced in March 2019 that he was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, revealing to fans he would host Jeopardy as long as he was able to do so.

Trebek’s last day of hosting was October 29, with the host succumbing to the disease and passing away on November 8 at the age of 80.

Both Cooper and Oz have previous Jeopardy experience, having both performed during the Jeopardy Power Players Week tournament in 2012.

Oz has won 10 Emmy’s for his critically-acclaimed The Dr. Oz Show and serves as an attending physician at NY Presbyterian-Columbia Medical Center.

Cooper has hosted CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360° and Anderson Cooper Full Circle, while Gupta serves as CNN’s chief medical correspondent while serving as the associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Guthrie is the co-anchor of NBC’s Today show and she also serves as chief legal correspondent for NBC News.
