Venus Williams and sister Serena enjoy family time in between matches at 2021 Australian Open: ‘Big sister acting like the little sister’

They have been a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court even before each of them were ranked No. 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, beginning in 2002.

And while they have also partnered up to become doubles champions in their chosen sport, Venus and Serena Williams have confessed to being extremely close as sisters in their private lives.

That bond was put on display for all to see when older sis Venus shared a series of photos on Instagram of the two ladies enjoying some quality time together in-between matches at the 2021 Australian Open in Melbourne.

In all, Venus posted four photos of the pair getting cheeky with each other while out enjoying a meal in a restaurant while both dressed in Gucci ensembles.

One snap shows Venus sticking her tongue out at Serena as she has her right arm around her shoulder.

There’s another image where she flashes a peace sign behind her baby sister’s head, and a third as she gives Serena an adoring look.

“The Scenes: Big sister acting like the little sister and then me staring at my true love @serenawilliams #sisters,’ Venus, 40, captioned the moment.

It appears Venus was eliminated from the Australian Open with her second round loss to Sara Errani of Italy not long after the sisters shared that meal together. During the match, her game got compromised due to injuries to her right ankle and left knee.

Afterwards, she shared some words of wisdom along with two Instagram photos of herself grimacing in pain.

‘You can’t always prepare for the triumph or the disaster in sports or in life. You can’t control it all. What you can control is how you handle the ups and the downs,’ she began in the caption.

‘No matter the outcome I always hold my head high and I leave everything I have on the court. I never look back in regret because no matter the odds I give it all. You don’t have to look back when you leave it all out there. Always look forward, the deepest dream you have could be.’

The California native also expressed her frustration over the loss, as well as more words of wisdom, in another post on her Insta-Story.

Serena won her second round match against Serbia’s Nina Stojanović, and will now face Anastasia Potapova of Russia in their third round match on Thursday.
