Cardi B shares challenges of making music videos while following pandemic protocols on NBC talk show

Cardi B shared how challenging it’s been to film music videos with COVID-19 restrictions while appearing Thursday on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The 28-year-old rapper released her wildly popular WAP video in August and last week treated her fans to a music video for her new song Up.

‘Is it tough with the pandemic even to record a song, let alone do a video for it?,’ Jimmy, 46, asked the Grammy-winning rapper who appeared remotely on the NBC talk show .

‘Videos, yes, of course. Because there’s certain things that you can’t do,’ said Cardi, whose given name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar.

‘I did this pyramid with some girls. And the pyramid, we have to do it less than 10 seconds because it was more than six people,’ Cardi shared.

‘And due to COVID, people can’t be touching. Even though you get tested before the music video three times. You get tested the beginning of the week, the day beofe, and the day of,’ she said.

Jimmy pointed out that there’s also licking in her Up music video.

‘Yeah, we had to, like, beg,’ Cardi said.

Jimmy found it odd that she couldn’t form a human pyramid, but she and women in her video could ‘French kiss each other’.

Cardi explained that it all was determined following the ‘craziest protocols’ for production.
