Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page ‘secures lead role in new adventure film Dungeon & Dragons’

He won the hearts of viewers with his performance as the Duke Of Hastings in the Netflix period drama, Bridgerton. 

And Regé-Jean Page looked typically dapper as he stepped out in New York City on Tuesday, en-route to Saturday Night Live filming.

The actor, 31, who plays Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the Netflix show, cut a stylish figure in a navy blue t-shirt, paired with a tweed coat and cream scarf.

The star teamed his ensemble with black jeans and matching boots.

Taking precautions amid COVID-19, the star wore a blue, yellow and red face mask as he departed from his hotel.

The actor is set to star in the Paramount feature film alongside a host of famous faces including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith, The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Tuesday.  

Details surrounding his role are yet to be disclosed, but the current release date for the movie is set for 27 May 2022 in the United States. 

MailOnline have contacted Regé-Jean’s reps and Paramount for comment. 

The film will be directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, and produced and financed by Hasbro/eOne and Paramount. 

Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson.

It was first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. and has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997. 

This version of Dungeons & Dragons has been in the works for many years with Ansel Elgort once attached and Rob Letterman set to direct. 

After a legal battle between Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro about ownership rights, the film was moved to Paramount, according to Variety. 

Chris McKay was brought in as a director before he left the project.  In 2019, Jonathan and John Francis came in.

Dungeons & Dragons was first adapted for the big screen in 2000. That version starred Thora Birch, Kristen Wilson, Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans and Jeremy Irons. 

The project, which was made by New Line, did not do well at the box office.

The synopsis read: ‘In the Kingdom of Izmer, wizards use their magic to rule the land the young Empress Savina (Birch) desires to use magic for good, but the evil Profion (Irons) plans to utilize his powers to usurp the throne from Savina and subject the kingdom to totalitarian rule.’
