It comes after Eamonn was  slammed by This Morning viewers after he made a jibe about his wife Ruth weight on Monday’s episode of the chat show.

The couple are hosting the programme for the half-term break, marking their first return as presenters since their Friday slot was axed last year.

But Eamonn was accused of ‘body shaming’ Ruth during the It’s Behind You segment where a viewer calls in and describes what is behind the hosts, who have to guess the right answer.

During the game, a picture of Kate Middleton appeared on screen, with the caller saying: ‘She’s very thin,’ and ‘she’s married to…’ before his time ran out.

Eamonn turned to Ruth when he heard ‘thin’ and said: ‘She’s very thin, well it’s not you darling.’

Ruth ignored her husband’s remark and correctly guessed it was Kate Middleton before Eamonn added: ‘He wouldn’t say she was very thin and married to Eamonn Holmes, would he! No, he wouldn’t have done that!’

Viewers quickly took to social media to hit out at the remark, with one user saying: ‘Imagine body shaming your wife on national telly’.

Another viewer added: ‘@ThisMorning not particularly great entertainment… fat shaming your wife on TV Eamonn’.

One unimpressed viewer said: ‘I understand joking artound with your other half but again with the “fat jibes  being thrown at the wife again.

‘It’s getting old Eamonn. Imagine the abuse Phil [Schofield] would get if he called Holly [Willoughby] or Allison [Hammond] fat’.

Elsewhere during the episode, Ruth admitted she is a ‘jealous woman’ and would not like it if she saw Eamonn ‘liking’ other women’s social media posts too often.

The couple spoke to Loose Women’s Charlene White and Coleen Nolan as they previewed what would be coming up on Monday’s programme.

Coleen jokingly asked Ruth if she noticed that Eamonn had liked many of her Instagram pictures.

Ruth replied: ‘If he was liking someone else’s photos too much, that’s something we’d have to talk about. Ladies, you know I’m a jealous woman.’
