Paris Hilton engaged to boyfriend of one year Carter Reum

Paris Hilton announced on Wednesday – her 40th birthday – she has become engaged to her boyfriend of just over one year, Carter Reum.

The socialite turned reality TV star turned DJ shared images where she was in a white dress hugging Carter who also wore white as she raised her left hand to show off her emerald cut engagement ring by Jean Dousset, the great-grandson of Louis Cartier.

The two were on a beach at sunset with light clouds in the background. ‘When you find your soulmate, you don’t just know it. You feel it,’ shared the beauty to her Instagram page. She also posted photos from the proposal.

The Simple Life star added, ‘My love & I have been together since our first date, and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise.’

Then she detailed the proposal: ‘As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee.

‘I said yes, yes to forever ❤️ There’s no one I’d rather spend forever with. ✨.’ She finished with: ‘Here’s to Love – the Forever Kind.’

In the photos Carter can be seen down on one knee with the ring box open. He then pulls her into his arms and kisses his future wife as she wears sunglasses. 

On Paris’ website she shared 23 images from the proposal which looked to be a well planned event.

Paris was seen in her plunging dress which had a high slit that showed off her legs. And Carter was dapper in a suit.

They were seen on the beach as well as in a wood-framed cabana before walking on the beach.

Also present was Paris’ sister Nicky Hilton and her husband of six years, James Rithschild. Brother Barron Hilton II was there as well and he had by his side wife of almost three years, Tessa Gräfin von Walderdorff.

And there were several members of Reum’s family including his mother Sherry Reum as well as his brother Courtney Reum.

 ‘I’m excited for our next chapter,’ she told People.

Reum, also 40, proposed on February 13 during a vacation on a private island while celebrating Hilton’s 40th birthday.

According to People, she wore a Retrofete dress and a Loschy crown.  

Paris also shared with People: ‘This past year with COVID has accelerated so many things. As someone who traveled constantly, I had a chance to stay home and reevaluate what was important to me. My relationship and the time I spent with Carter was a gift.

‘I’m excited for our next chapter.’

Her fiance Reum then said: ‘I have gotten the unique opportunity to get to know the real Paris on a daily basis just the two of us during these past 15 months and I couldn’t be more excited and lucky to have her as my future wife and partner. 

‘She shines with her kindness, work ethic, authenticity and her voice in making the world a better place and she will do the same as a future mother and wife.’

‘Paris is so excited, and her friends and family are just thrilled for her. Carter is a great guy and after everything she’s been through, the stable kind of love he brings to her life is what she deserves. 

‘She’s sure he’s the one,’ a source told People.

Reum attended Columbia University, and became an entrepreneur who co-founded VEEV Spirits with brother Courtney. 

This comes after Hilton starred with Carter in a new music video for her 2006 song Heartbeat. The star revealed to Paper on Friday that she was inspired to revisit the song amid her romance with the businessman.

‘I’ve been listening to [her sole studio album Paris] so much with my boyfriend. In 2006, I didn’t even know what love was, but the words to [Heartbeat] finally have meaning,’ she revealed.

‘My boyfriend is not the type of guy who will be in a music video,’ Paris said of Carter’s brief appearance.

‘He’s a businessman and hates the spotlight. He’s not that type of person at all. I asked Carter, “I know you’d never do this, but it’d mean so much to me. We’ll just shoot you from the back. There’s obviously no one I’d rather do this with, the song was literally meant for me and you.” He said, “Yes,” and I was so happy,’ she recalled.
