He won the hearts of the nation when he became King Of The Jungle on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here! in 2018.

And it appears Harry Redknapp has also impressed show bosses at EastEnders, according to reports made by The Mirror on Saturday.

The publication claimed those behind the scenes on the iconic BBC soap have been wowed by 73-year-old former footballer’s charm, and are keen to cast him in the show as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) new sidekick.

A source speaking to newspaper claimed: ‘Harry will be a great addition to EastEnders.

‘Even though he has no traditional acting experience, his character and charm are more than enough to stand him in good stead on the show.

‘And with him growing up in the real East End, it makes it even better. Everything has been pretty much agreed and it’s now down to the fine details.’

MailOnline has contacted Harry’s representatives and spokespeople for EastEnders for further comment.

Last month, Harry shared his desire to appear in the soap as he told The Sun on Sunday: ‘My ambition for 2021 is to get a part in EastEnders because I’m a real Eastender.

‘I grew up in Poplar, so have a real affinity with the area. I’ve already worked out my character.’

Harry and his son Jamie certainly entertained viewers with their appearance on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

The pair were on to take part in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Out Of Me Ear segment, where they pretended to interview prospective staff for a fictional restaurant, and both kept bursting into laughter.

At the request of the presenters, former footballer Harry cheekily asked a potential waiter: ‘If we want you, do you think they’d be a transfer fee involved?’

An amused Jamie, 47, welcomed Thomas to the eatery and explained his false intentions as he said: ‘Thanks for coming here.

‘Let’s tell you about this restaurant because this is a new venture. We want good waiting staff, that’s why we’ve asked you to come at the minute.’

As the broadcasters forced Harry to find out about his occupation, the interviewee revealed he’s a transport manager for a recycling firm.

The 2018 I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! champ linked the job to his football career as he was pressed to ask: ‘If we try to get you from the firm you’re at now, do you think they’d be a transfer fee involved?’

A League of Their Own star Jamie nearly spat out his tea as he told his dad: ‘No dad, that’s not how it works. You don’t buy and sell people! He has to equate everything to football. Thomas I’m sorry mate, what does that have to do with anything?’

Harry didn’t stop there as he joked: ‘If we had to pay a fee, what are we talking? A couple of mil, two mil?’, before Ant and Dec laughed: ‘They’ve lost the plot!’
