Sue Perkins reveals she would expel the ‘bristling sexual tension’ between her and ex-Bake Off co-star Paul Hollywood by hitting his private parts with baguettes
Sue Perkins has reminisced on her time working with Paul Hollywood on The Great British Bake Off – and how the pair would lark around on set together.
The former host of the show, 51, told The Sun: ‘For a while Paul and I only spoke through the medium of violence. Early doors, there were a lot of props, big lifelike plastic baguettes.
‘I’d smash a cob into his b******s. I mean, really hard as well, no messing. Like a stab.’

‘If I’d just finished a link that wasn’t really going anywhere, he’d appear and uppercut me with a baguette that would knock my teeth together. What I loved was we never formulated a plan to do that, it just emerged.
‘I don’t know if there was some bristling sexual tension underneath — who knows what the driver was — but it was pure violence, but with props.’
Sue hosted the show with Mel Giedroyc on BBC One from 2010 until it moved to Channel 4 in 2017.
Paul, 54, moved with it to the new network, but Mel, Sue and Mary Berry left the series.
Earlier this month, Hollywood star Blake Lively admitted she was desperate for one of Paul’s infamous handshakes of approval after baking a unicorn cake.
The Gossip Girl star, 33, posted a picture of a stunning pink cake covered in floral decorations and revealed if she didn’t get Paul’s approval she’d ‘quit’.

Underneath the image, Paul wrote ‘nice work’ and left her a handshake emoji.
Clearly delighted by his response, Blake excitedly reposted the comment on her Instagram Story several times.

Paul’s handshakes have become widely recognised as the highest commendation for baked goods on The Great British Bake Off and its US counterpart, The Great American Baking Show.
Paul offered his first handshake during the third series of the British based baking competition, however the honour is used sparingly.
He awarded just three handshakes during the most recent series of the programme which aired over the summer of 2020.
