Megan McKenna exudes elegance in a black gown and veil for new music video

Megan McKenna showed her demure side in a black veil and floor-length dress for the newly released music video to her original track, This.

Surrounded by dimly-lit candles, the reality star, 28, was overcome with emotion as she sung about falling in love and living in the moment, in the new clip which premiered on Friday.

She later changed into a studded dress as she reclined on the floor and nailed the chorus to the song, which she first performed on the X Factor: Celebrity final in 2019, shortly before she was crowned the winner.

Megan enhanced her visage with a slick of make-up and styled her caramel tresses in a natural wave as she hit the high notes from a derelict church.

With over half a million streams across digital platforms in two weeks, she discussed the meaning behind the track and why she decided to film it at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham, London.

She explained: ‘I chose an abandoned chapel because I wanted to create an ethereal mood for this video.

‘Churches are places of honesty and vulnerability so I felt like that was the perfect environment, to show myself opening up to the world and going on my journey.

‘It’s a very stripped back, emotional performance which shows me finally getting a breakthrough and seeing a bit of light.’

Megan elaborated: ‘The glitter represents all the magical things happening in my life and symbolises my emotions.

‘It’s like a wild ride on a rollercoaster but ends on a positive note with the realisation that I’m just a normal vulnerable girl who wants her dreams to come true.’

In February of last year, Megan jetted off to Nashville, Tennessee, to work on a second studio album, two months after winning The X Factor: Celebrity.

She had also been slated to support legendary musician Lionel Richie on the British leg of his tour.

However, the impending COVID-19 pandemic all but destroyed her hopes of releasing new music last year, or supporting Lionel on tour.

In December 2018, Megan achieved success with the release of her debut album Story Of Me, which peaked at number four on the UK Country Chart.

She documented her foray into the country music world in her 2017 documentary There’s Something About Megan.

Back in 2017, she told MailOnline: ‘You guys have just seen me on telly [on TOWIE] losing it, going mad when I’ve had a break up.

‘But no one saw the softer side of me with the break up, and I wanted to put that in the song. I really feel like it was a good way of explaining it.’

Discussing her new foray into country music, Megan revealed she was worried about how the public may perceive her.

She said: ‘I think people in the UK have seen me going on all these different shows, and I think they think, “oh, she just wants to be a singer all of a sudden”.

‘But this is something I’ve wanted my whole life. This is gonna make people realise that I’ve worked my whole life for this.’

And Megan is nothing but grateful for the opportunities she’s earned in the music business.

While on a trip to Malibu to share her music with the mogul Simon Cowell last year, she told fans: ‘Every little part of my life has lead up to a trip like this… writing every day with incredible people, recording in the hills and meetings in Malibu!’

‘I’ve worked so hard to live in moments like these, and like the lyric says in my song, “Out Of A Hundred No’s, You Only Need One Yes!” See you reallll soon LA. #albummode #dreambigdreams,’ she wrote.
