Katy Perry wonders aloud about singing with Taylor Swift during duets episode on American Idol

Katy Perry wondered aloud about performing with fellow pop superstar Taylor Swift on Monday during the duets episode of American Idol.

The 36-year-old show judge had Taylor, 31, on her mind after critiquing the performance of contestants Althea Grace, 21, and Camille Lamb, 22.

‘Can you imagine …if Taylor and I worked together, what we could do?’ Katy said to fellow judges Lionel Richie, 71, and Luke Bryan, 44, referring to her one time frenemy.

Luke gave her a long look and raised an eyebrow as he considered the possibility.

Katy and Taylor had a well documented feud that featured them taking shots at each other in their songs, on social media and in numerous interviews.

Taylor in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone said her song Bad Blood from her album 1989 was about a female singer who ‘tried to sabotage’ her tour.

She apparently blamed Katy for backup dancers leaving her Red tour to join Katy’s Prism tour.

Katy took to Twitter a day after the interview was published with a tweet referencing the film Mean Girls that read: ‘Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…’.

A fan back in September 2016 also asked Katy if she would collaborate with Taylor and she tweeted: ‘if she says sorry, sure!’

Katy also dropped the apparent anti-Taylor diss track Swish Swish in September 2016, but insisted that it wasn’t about anyone in particular.

Althea and Camille during the Duets Challenge were struggling during rehearsal until Katy gave them a pep talk reminding them they needed each other to advance.

Their progress was nearly derailed when Althea’s two-year-old daughter Lennon was taken to the emergency room, but Lennon was doing better and Althea channeled her anger over her daughter’s illness into her performance.

Their duet of the Lesly Gore song You Don’t Own Me earned high praise from Katy.

‘You held the line for each other. There was a little respect there. …And that had to grow overnight, …’cause I know it wasn’t there in the beginning,’ Katy told them. ‘But that respect just got you guys into the next round.’

Althea and Camille thanked the judges and were walking off the stage before they were stopped again.

‘And, ladies. That’s what queens do,’ Katy said of their mutual respect for each other.
