This post comes a week after her father figure Kurt Russell turned 70-years-old on March 17.

Hudson was quick to take to Instagram with a glowing tribute. ‘I’m gonna gush cause I don’t often about this man but I figure since today he turns 70 I’m gonna let it out,’ began the mother-of-three.

His partner since 1983, Goldie Hawn, also took to Instagram to pen a loving tribute as the 75-year-old called her Overboard co-star a ‘wild one’ while adding they never wed but their love continues to ‘grow.’

Kate shared: ‘I often wonder how how different our life would have been if he never entered the picture. How different I would be. Let me fill you in.’

The beauty – whose birth father is 71-year-old musician Bill Hudson – shared how he has been a father figure to her.

‘He’s a pick up your boot straps kinda dad. Don’t cry, shake it off you’re ok, kinda dad. Don’t let ’em push you around you got this, kinda dad. Don’t listen to the noise you’re doing great, kinda dad. Shake those hips like no ones watching, kinda dad,’ said the Bride Wars star.

She continued: ‘Always get back on the horse, kinda dad. Never miss a show or game, kinda dad. Kids before anything, kinda dad. Work hard play hard, kinda dad. My girl can rule the world, kinda dad.’

The cover star then touched on Kurt’s charm.

‘His laugh will echo through generations as powerful as his concocted stories of grandeur that may or may not be true (may we never know). He’s an original. One of kind. A powerful, intelligent, talented, loyal family man.’

Kate then said he has taught her that we can all exist with ‘immense’ love through our differences.

‘And his dedication to my mother and their fight for love forever is as admirable as it gets,’ she noted. They have been together for almost four decades.

Kurt and Goldie have been together since 1983 but never wed.

‘I love this man so much! A note for all dads of girls. He gave me the gift of confidence instilling a knowingness in me that I deserved everything I worked for and I knew that he’d always have my back in whatever challenges may lay ahead.’

Hudson finished with: ‘When you have a dad who gives you permission to be confident you live courageously. And that’s my insta love letter to my dad who has lived 70 years today. ❤️ Happy Birthday Pa. How bout we give some big Hip Hip Hoorays to this wild man!’

Goldie also had a tribute for partner Kurt: ‘Happy birthday baby! What a wild ride. No, we never got married but one thing that continues to grow is our love. You’re a wild one, brilliant, lovable, childlike, perfectly maddening, a father supreme and deeply funny! I can’t imagine my life without you at any age, Kurt Russell. You’re the catch. And you’re all mine ❤️.’

In January she said she was thankful Russell taught her what a ‘dependable father figure’ is like.

The actress has been estranged from her biological dad, Bill, for decades, so she’s grateful she’s always had the support of her mother, Goldie, and her partner throughout her life.

She told Today: ‘I think that estrangement is unfortunately quite common. I think it’s important for people to talk about that. If they can’t reconnect or if it’s too challenging, that it’s OK, right?

‘It’s a 41-year-old issue. I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that we didn’t know our dad.’

Despite their estrangement, the Fool’s Gold star still loves her dad but is happy to speak about their difficulties to give comfort to others going through similar situations.

She added: ‘I think as I’ve sort of gone through that process … I kind of look at my dad and I’m, like, ‘You know, the love has never ever gone anywhere. It’s always been there, no matter what those complications have been.’
