Anthony Ramos, Hamilton and In The Heights star, tapped for lead role in new Transformers movie

He’s rapidly becoming one of the hottest new stars in Hollywood.

And on Thursday, it was reported that Anthony Ramos is in final talks to star in the revamped Transformers franchise at Paramount.

The New York-born actor, 29, will be the lead in the new movie being directed by Creed II helmer Steven Caple Jr., according to THR.com.

Ramos first came to prominence as a member of the original cast of the musical Hamilton on Broadway.

He will next be seen in Hamilton star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut In The Heights, due out later this year.

In between, he had a supporting role in Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born with Lady Gaga, released in 2018, and in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

THR.com reports that the search is currently underway for a female co-star for the new Transformers film.

The first Transformers movie bowed in 2007 and was directed by Michael Bay with Steven Spielberg serving as an executive producer.

Bay went on to direct four more films in the franchise, ending with Transformers: The Last Knight released in 2017.

After Bay departed the franchise, Paramount decided to revamp the Transformers brand and in 2018 the studio released Bumblebee.

Transformers has been one of the most successful products for Paramount, grossing more than $4 billion worldwide over the first five films, according to Deadline.com.
