‘He can’t wait to get started’: Olly Murs ‘lands his first solo presenting role as host of Stars In Their Eyes reboot Starstruck’
He had a four-year stint as a coach on The Voice and infamously fronted The X Factor for a season back in 2015.
But now, Olly Murs is gearing up to launch his solo presenting career, and will helm the forthcoming Stars In Their Eyes reboot, titled Starstruck.
The star, 36, is said to be ‘absolutely thrilled’ about his exciting new gig, with ITV bosses certain he’s ‘the right choice to present’.

A source told The Sun: ‘Olly can’t wait to get started on the show and thinks this is going to be a great launchpad for him doing more solo presenting work in the future.’
They added: ‘Olly has great stage presence and knows exactly what it’s like to be on a TV show where you’re being judged.’
MailOnline has reached out to Olly’s representative for comment.
Formerly an X Factor competitor himself, Olly – who placed as a runner up on the world-famous talent show’s 2009 series – appeared on The Voice for four seasons alongside Sir Tom Moore, Anne-Marie and will.i.am.
Starstruck will begin filming in May, and BAFTA-winning actress Sheridan Smith will take to the judging panel alongside singers Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert, according to the outlet.
Stars In Their Eyes ran from 1990 through to 2006 and was hosted by Matthew Kelly.
The TV staple invited members of the public to dress up as their favourite music star and perform their chosen artist’s hits to an audience.

Olly’s exciting news comes weeks after he revealed he still hasn’t watched the recent Channel 4 documentary on Caroline Flack’s tragic passing as it’s ‘so difficult’ to process.
Olly shared a close friendship with Caroline over the years and confessed that it’s still difficult to realise that ‘she’s not here anymore’.
Following the screening of the emotional show, Olly explained that he is waiting to watch, as he told The Mirror: ‘I haven’t actually watched it yet purely on the basis that I’m in the Voice this week and I want to just focus on that.
‘I will watch it all next week on my own and I’ll process it all because it is so difficult to talk about it and it’s so difficult to even think that I’m talking about someone that I love a lot and she’s not here anymore.’
In a clip from Channel 4 documentary Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death, Olly broke down in tears as he remembered the good times he shared with his close friend and former co-presenter.
He said his ‘heart breaks’ every time he thinks of Caroline, and he struggles to imagine the internal suffering she endured in the moments that led up to her suicide.

Olly said: ‘I just know that my heart breaks every time I think of Caz and think of what she would’ve had to have gone through to take her own life and that’s going to hurt for a long time because we got on so well – we were great together.’
Later in the documentary, Olly spoke about the public’s negative reaction to him and Caroline presenting The X Factor in 2015 – and how they first knew they were losing their jobs when it became a news story.
Caroline was tragically found dead on February 15, 2020, at 40, the day after hearing the Crown Prosecution Service would go ahead with a trial for allegedly attacking her model and former tennis player boyfriend Lewis Burton in December 2019.
