Location, Location, Location viewers are left stunned by first time buyers with a £430,000 budget

Location Location Location viewers were left stunned last night when a couple looking to buy their first house revealed they had a budget of £430,000 – and managed to bag a bargain property priced at £100,000 less.

Karina and Lloyd, who are in their mid-twenties and work in London as a recruitment coordinator and a communications manager respectively, were keen to set up home in the East Midlands, close to Lloyd’s family.

They’d been living with their parents for several years and had managed to save up a hefty £135,000 deposit, meaning their first time buyer budget was a hefty £430,000.

Many viewers were shocked the couple had managed to save up such an impressive amount – and were equally stunned when the final property host Phil Spencer showed them turned out to be on the market for £325,000, more than £100,000 below their maximum budget.

The couple snapped up the four bedroom home with a large garden – and a hot tub in a shed – and offered £2,500 more than the guide price to secure it. 

One viewer tweeted: ‘How the heck have some twentysomethings got a first-time budget of £430K?’

Another remarked: ‘£400K to buy their first home? Is his dad Bill Gates?’ 

And one commented: ‘This rich young couple are really gunna save themselves a further £100K [sic].’

Karina and Lloyd, who have been together eight years, wanted a village life in rural Northamptonshire while both still commuting to the capital, meaning close proximity to a train station was top of their list.

The home even had a hot tub in the garden shed, complete with a TV on the wall, which appealed to Karina

They explained that they intend to stay in their first home for 10 to 15 years, and wanted a modern property with lots of space and ideally an open-plan dining room and garden.  

The couple failed to be enamoured by the first property, though Lloyd took a liking to the third house’s spectacular views – on the market at £450,000, so over the top end of their budget.

The fourth and final house was in the peaceful village of Weedon, which boasted a beautifully renovated interior with a huge open plan living area downstairs – and even a hot tub in a shed.

Impressed from the outset, Karina exclaimed: ‘Oh Phil, what have you done!’ as the host explained the current occupants had ‘created their dream home’ but have to leave it to move away for work.

When he revealed the £325,000 price tag, the couple couldn’t believe their luck and put in an asking price offer.

With viewings stacked up, the vendor asked them to go to £330,000 to secure it, but met in the middle at £327,500.

Viewers at home took to Twitter in their droves, questioning why the stunning property was so cheap.
