Sadiq Khan will bid to bring the Olympics and Paralympics back to London if he is re-elected as the city’s mayor this week.

London has already hosted the Games three times — in 1908, 1948 and 2012 — a record that Paris will match when the French capital hosts for a third time in 2024.

If elected for a second term this week, Khan has promised to put together a committee to look into a fourth Games in either 2036 or 2040, with a focus on sustainability.
