Meet your new Bachelorette? Bachelor in Paradise star Renee Barrett is the bookies’ favourite to lead the new season

As production continues on The Bachelor, the competition for who will be Australia’s next Bachelorette is heating up.

The top candidates for the role are former Bachelor star Renee Barrett, singer Paulini Curuenavuli and podcast host Abbie Chatfield, according to Sportsbet odds.

Renee, 29, who was left heartbroken on last year’s season of Bachelor in Paradise, is the front-runner with short odds of $2.50.

Abbie Chatfield, 25, rounds out the top three with odds of $3.50.

However, Abbie has stated that she would probably turn down any offer because she would like the next Bachelorette to be a woman of colour.

Interestingly, Sportsbet’s two favourites are women of colour: Renee is Indigenous and Paulini is Fijian.

Less likely candidates include former child star Nikki Webster ($5) and Bachelor favourite Brittney ‘Litney’ Weldon ($10).

Several woman in Sportsbet’s ranking are currently in relationships, or at least rumoured to be, which means they probably aren’t worth betting on.

It remains to be seen if 10 does go ahead with casting Australia’s first Indigenous Bachelorette – a decision that would no attract positive PR for the network after it was slammed for casting two white sisters, Elly and Becky Miles, last year.
