Chris Hemsworth reflects on 10 years since he and Tom Hiddleston were cast in Thor – as he shares old headline calling the actors ‘no names’

He is currently in the final stages of shooting Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder.

And on Wednesday, Chris Hemsworth, 37, took a moment to reflect upon how far his career has come over the past decade.

Posting to Instagram, the actor uploaded a throwback photo of himself and co-star Tom Hiddleston reading their scripts for the first Thor film, which was released in 2011.

‘It’s been a hell of a ride’: Chris Hemsworth, 37, celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the first Thor film on Wednesday by sharing an Instagram post reflecting upon how far his career has come

‘This year marks the 10th anniversary of THOR when two unknown lads were given the keys to the kingdom,’ Chris wrote in the caption.

‘It’s been a hell of a ride and we clearly haven’t aged a day,’ he joked, making sure to tag Tom’s account.

The former Home And Away star also shared a Vulture article written in 2009 that referred to himself Tom as ‘no name actors’.

‘Marvel Rolls Dice, Casts No-names for Thor,’ the now-ironic article is titled.

‘Despite rumours that had everyone from Shia LaBeouf to Josh Hartnett being cast in Kenneth Branagh’s version of Thor, two virtual unknowns will instead be handed the keys to the Marvel franchise,’ the article begins.

‘Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, whom you might recall from the opening scene of Star Trek, will play the Norse superhero, and Tom Hiddleston has been cast as his nemesis, Loki.’

It comes after Taika Waititi, who is currently directing Thor: Love and Thunder, revealed why he believes Chris was the perfect man to front the franchise.

‘He is a funny guy, he’s a good friend and he’s also someone that you just want to hang out with all the time,’ the Kiwi director gushed during an interview with Weekend Today earlier this month.

‘And I think that’s all you really want from a superhero or a main character in your movie,’ he added.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled for release on May 6, 2022.
